Balaphonik Sound System

Balaphonik Sound System is a personal project of multi-instrumentalist Alex, who has worked on varied musical projects, spanning genres from metal to gnawa, reggae to hip hop. His rhythmic exploration stems from encounters and travels worldwide. In addition to being the drummer for Djamanawak (world electro-rock fusion) and balafonist for Balaphang (balafon, hang, dub), Alex embarks on a unique journey with Balaphonik Sound System. This project is steeped in influences of dub, reggae, electro, hip hop, blending contemporary and traditional, often ethnic sounds. Electronic beats, voices, and percussions fuse together, reinterpreting global and evolving music territories in a distinct style. Alex traverses asphalt and trails with his sound system cart, an autonomous setup featuring balafon, didgeridoo, loop station, machines, bass synthesizer, all confronting vocals, beatbox, and other improvisations. Everything is produced live in the pure tradition of the traveling musician, akin to a living mixtape with a universal language. Endlessly creative, Balaphonik Sound System moves bodies and refreshes spirits.
