Daniel Haaksman is a renowned DJ, producer, and label owner known for his significant contributions to global musical exchange. In 2004, he introduced the world to Rio de Janeiro's Baile Funk sound with the release of "Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats," coining the genre term "Baile Funk." Haaksman established Man Recordings in 2005, a leading international label for tropical bass music. The label has released numerous records by artists such as Diplo, Schlachthofbronx, Crookers, Bert On Beats, and many Brazilian artists like Deize Tigrona, Mulu, Cibelle, Edu K, MC Tha, Joao Brasil, Lovefoxxx, and Marina Gasolina. Daniel Haaksman's discography includes four albums, various compilations, and official remixes for artists like Gotan Project, Dom Salvador E Abolicao, Lord Nelson, and Pinduca. As a DJ, he has played at numerous clubs, festivals, and events worldwide, including Glastonbury, Womad, and Tim Festival. His eclectic mix of baile funk, house, trap, bubbling, kuduro, and more has captivated audiences globally. From 2013 to 2016, Haaksman hosted the weekly radio mix show "Luso FM" on German public radio WDR Funkhaus Europa. He also writes as a freelance music journalist for various German language dailies and weeklies. His recent releases include "Sonido Lava" (2023), "Black Atlantica Edits" (2020), "La Añoranza" (2019), "With Love, From Berlin" (2019), "24-7" (2018), "Overture" (2018), and several remixes and compilations. Haaksman's music spans various genres, including electronic, Latin, folk, world, and country, with styles ranging from leftfield to bass music, rumba, downtempo, African, and Latin.
