HJirok

Since 2021, Hani Mojtahedy and Andi Toma have collaborated on the HJirok project, initially conceived for a single performance at House of World Cultures. The duo's work has since evolved into an ongoing exploration, delving into the devastating impacts of climate change in the Iranian-Kurdish region and the Iraqi-Kurdish border area. HJirok presents a complex narrative that intertwines myth with harsh political realities, reflecting on the escalating water crisis and broader societal issues. The project continues to evolve as the region remains dynamic, incorporating themes of freedom struggle in Iran and addressing themes of alienation, division, and human-induced disasters.

HJirok played in Luftschloss at Fusion festival 2024.
