Chris Schwarzwälder

Chris Schwarzwälder

Chris Schwarzwalder, a versatile figure in the electronic music scene, is recognized for his deep and restrained house style that sets him apart. Originally from Frankfurt am Main, he began making hip-hop beats in the 90s before discovering techno at Offenbach's Robert Johnson club. In Berlin since 2009, he has been a prominent figure at KaterHolzig, where his unique sound found a receptive audience. As a solo artist and collaborator, Chris has cemented his reputation with a series of releases that showcase his soulful, slower approach to electronic music. He is part of the Feathered Sun collective, known for their dreamy, improvised live performances. With Mira, he forms a duo that plays deep, clubby, and melancholic sets both at Kater Blau and internationally. His collaborative work with Iannis Ritter takes on a weirder, more melodic and electro approach. Chris describes himself as reserved, logical, rational, melancholic, and humorous, preferring to let his music speak for itself rather than discussing his extensive list of performances around the globe or his numerous hits. If you're lucky, he might share stories about his favorite synthesizers instead. Recent releases include "Out the Window" (2019) on Hold Your Ground, "A New Beginning EP" (2018) on Katermukke, and "Leaves" (2018) on Denature Records.
