American country singer and songwriter Don Williams, affectionately known as "The Gentle Giant" of country music, began his solo career in 1971. Originating from Floydada, Texas, he spent his formative years in Portland, Texas. His smooth bass-baritone voice and imposing presence earned him this nickname. In 2010, Williams was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. His most recent release, "Epilogue The Cellar Tapes" (2026), showcases his unique blend of folk, world, and country styles.
