Mitsune
Mitsune, a Berlin-based ensemble, fuses traditional Japanese folk with psychedelic, cinematic, and ritual music. Led by two female shamisen players, the group also includes percussion and bass, creating modern folklore with driving beats, raw emotion, and decadent costume design. Their unique multicultural composition of musicians from Japan, Australia, and Greece has garnered international acclaim, with praise from Rolling Stone and Songlines magazine. Their 2022 album Hazama entered the Transglobal World Music Chart's Top 10 and was nominated for the German Record Critic's Prize, with a follow-up set for release in 2025. Their sound can be categorized as Shamisen, Avantgarde, Alternative, Dance, Min'yo, Japanese Folklore, Neo-Traditional.
Mitsune a joué au Saga à Bucht der Träumer festival 2024.
