Mitsune, a Berlin-based four-piece, fuses traditional Japanese folk with psychedelic, cinematic, and ritual music, led by female shamisen players and accompanied by percussion and bass. Known for their modern folklore, driving beats, raw emotion, and decadent costume design, they have garnered international acclaim, including praise from Rolling Stone and Songlines magazine. Their 2022 album Hazama entered the Transglobal World Music Chart's Top 10 and was nominated for the German Record Critic's Prize, with a follow-up scheduled for release in 2025.
