Mitsune

Mitsune, a Berlin-based ensemble, fuses traditional Japanese folk with psychedelic, cinematic, and ritual music. Led by two female shamisen players, the group incorporates percussion and bass to create modern folklore with driving beats and raw emotion. Their multicultural lineup of musicians from Japan, Australia, and Greece has garnered international acclaim, earning praise from Rolling Stone and Songlines magazine. Their 2022 album Hazama entered the Transglobal World Music Chart's Top 10 and was nominated for the German Record Critic's Prize. A follow-up is scheduled for release in 2025. The group's unique blend of traditional and avant-garde sounds sets them apart in the music scene.
