múm, an influential Icelandic ensemble, was established in 1997 by Gunnar Örn Tynes, Örvar Smárason, and classically trained twin sisters Gyda and Kristín Anna Valtysdóttir. Known for their electronic key-figures, they have released music on Morr Music & Fat Cat Records, earning a significant place in Iceland's pop landscape. The band's lineup is fluid, mirroring the evolution of their music. Their sound encompasses experimental abstract pop, blending gentle vocals, glitch beats, innovative sampling, and eerie effects with an array of traditional and unconventional instruments. múm has released seven studio albums, numerous singles, EPs, and collaborations, as well as music for theater and film. Live performances offer a captivating journey to the outer edges of pop. Their latest release, "History of Silence," was issued in 2025 on vinyl format, showcasing their continued exploration in electronic music. Previous releases include "Smilewound" (2013) and "Yesterday Was Dramatic" (2019), both available on vinyl.
