Sonido Gallo Negro
Sonido Gallo Negro, a collective of nine musicians from Mexico City, delve into an uncharted musical universe that transcends their established Mexican and Latin American roots. Their soundscape incorporates elements from the Middle East, the Hispanic old world, and Africa, seamlessly woven within the Americas' cultural fabric. The band's debut album, "Cumbia Salvaje," released in 2011, showcased their unique fusion of cumbia, boogaloo, chicha, and esoteric elements. This release earned them critical acclaim and international recognition, leading to performances at the Kustendorf film and music festival in Serbia and concerts in Italy and Spain. In 2013, Sonido Gallo Negro graced the stage at Vive Latino, a significant Latin American musical and cultural festival held in Mexico City. Their subsequent releases, such as "Spirit Box" (2025), "Cumbia Salvaje" (2024), and "Paganismo" (2024), continue to demonstrate their mastery of electronic, Latin, cumbia, tribal, rhythmic noise, rock, mambo, and psychedelic rock genres.
